Nine PBC Track & Field Athletes Earn All-America at NCAA Championships
BRADENTON , FLA – A record nine Peach Belt student-athletes earned All-America status at the recently completed NCAA National Championships in Bradenton , Fla . The nine honorees eclipses the previous mark of seven set last year . Six of the nine came from Shorter , who finished 20th overall in the women ’ s team scoring and 29th in the men .
Shorter ’ s Supan Randeniya opened the day ’ s competition in the 110 hurdles ; where he finished seventh overall in a time of 14.29 to earn his second All-American recognition of the year from the NCAA , having received the honor during the indoor season as well .
In the men ’ s 5,000m , Shorter ’ s Alfred Chelanga made a late push to come from the back of the pack to finish sixth overall in a time of 14:16.93 for his second All-American recognition of the weekend , as he also finished sixth in the 10,000m on Thursday evening in a time of 30:05.23 .
Kory Jones saved his best for last on Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships , earning

all-American honors with a seventh place finish in the long jump . Jones , a Raeford native and Hoke County High School graduate , registered a pair of personal-best leaps on the day . He hit a mark of 7.46 meters on his second of three attempts in the preliminaries , and then topped that jump with a leap of 7.58 meters ( 24 feet , 10-1 / 2 inches ) on his second of three attempts in the finals . The performance continued an impressive tradition for the UNC Pembroke track & field team who now boasts six all-American performances in the last seven years . Jones is the second UNCP student-athlete ( Jamel Allison , 2009 ) to earn the accolade in the long jump .

43 Men ’ s Track & Field Athletes Named All-Region
NEW ORLEANS , LA -- Forty-Three Peach Belt Conference men ’ s track and field athletes have been named All-Region by the USTFCCCA . The PBC winners come from both the south and southeast regions . To be named All-Region , an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team .
Shorter led the PBC with 13 All-Region athletes while UNC Pembroke added eight , Columbus State and Alabama-Huntsville seven each , Nova Southeastern six , Florida Tech two and Montevalloa nd Clayton State one each .
