Shorter University will send the largest group from the PBC with four men and eight women earning spots in the championships. Freshman Alfred Chelanga is the only PBC student-athlete who will compete in two individual events as he qualified in the 5k and 10k. He set an automatic qualifying time in the 5k at the Peyton Jordan Invitational two weeks ago and holds the fastest 10k time in the PBC. Also for Shorter, Lester Miller will run the 100m, Supan Randeniya the 110 hurdles and Gregary Radford the 400m. Rogers’ throw of 62.35 meters set at the Alabama Relays is now atop the UAH record book for the javelin. UNC Pembroke’s Kory Jones nabbed an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the long jump on three occasions this season, including personal-best leaps of 7.45 meters at both the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Pembroke and the Aggie Last Chance meet on Sunday in Greensboro.
