Southeast Region final each of the last two seasons and were the
first Peach Belt Conference team to capture a Southeast Region title,
advancing to the Elite Eight in 2008.
Since Lander began a volleyball team in 1998, this year’s squad
joins the 2008 team as the only Bearcat teams to reach the regional.
This season the Bearcats won a school-record 24 games and set
another best of 11 victories in the Peach Belt Conference. Lander will
face #3 Wingate in the opening round.
Lander enters the tournament 24-12 overall, while Wingate is
28-4. The Bulldogs won the South Atlantic Conference regular-season
title, but fell to Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-1, in the SAC Tournament championship game.
Montevallo’s Phelps named CoSIDA Academic

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo senior Rebekah Phelps
has been named a second team CoSIDA Academic All-American selection, which is selected by members of the Collegiate Sports Information
Directors of America.
Phelps, a senior from Huntsville, Alabama, carries a perfect 4.00
cumulative grade-point average as an elementary education major.
