PBC YEARBOOK
Conference history to earn four All-Conference honors. A key member
of the Lady Cougar defense, Rolling has helped Columbus State
amass 49 shutouts during her four-year career. In this her senior
season, Rolling has turned in her best offensive year of her career as
well tallying seven goals and four assists. Earlier this season, she was
named the PBC Tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring a pair
of goals in the championship match.
Marti Bartis becomes just the second individual in the illustrious 26-year history of Clayton State Athletics to earn Academic
All-American honors. She joins cross country and track and field
student-athlete Robert Spezzacatena, who was a Third-Team choice
in 2012.
Marti Bartis has
excelled both academically
and athletically in 2015,
posting a perfect 4.0 GPA
while pursuing a Masters
in Health Administration
and being one of the top
goal scoring threats in the
Southeast Region.
This season she was
named to the All-Peach
Belt Conference First-Team
and was twice the league’s
Player of the Week (Sept.
21, Oct. 19) after driving
home 11 goals and finishing
with 25 points. Four of those goals were also game-winners, which
ranks 50th in the country.
Ally Barys was the women’s soccer winner of the PBC Elite 15
Award for 2015, presented to the player competing in the championships with the highest cumulative GPA. The senior from Ladera
Ranch, Calif., carries a perfect 4.00 GPA with a major in exercise
science. Barys’ academic honor adds to her list of accolades, as she
has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District twice, and brought in PBC
All-Academic Team three times.
On the field, Barys led the Bobcats with five goals on the
season and was tied for second on the team with four assists. She
finished the season ranked in the PBC’s top 20 in goals, assists and
points and had game-winning goals at UNC Pembroke and at Flagler.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a
student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a
cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore
athletic and academic standings at her institution and be nominated
by her sports information director.
