PH $1000 Incredibly RARE (first and only one we’ve seen) UNEXPLODED booklet of 10 panes of Adams Express Co. labels. MINT never hinged. The typeset labels are orange on white paper (Mosher lists them as buff), perf 12, 31½x23mm design size. Adams Express Co. was formed by Alvin Adams, a produce merchant, in 1839 when he began carrying letters and mall packages back and forth between Boston and Worcester, Mass. The shipping aspects of the Company merged in 1917 with The Railway Express Agency, the government established monopoly.
