Original gum, lightly hinged, fine for imperforate coil. Ex-Dr Spalding. (1971 PF Cert #35505) Cat $2500. Chicagopex 2013 USA-SINGLES-09.pmd (498b) 1917 WASHINGTON 1¢ GREEN, STRIP, IMPERF VERTICALLY .............................................. PH (498b) 1917 WASHINGTON 1¢ GREEN, IMPERF BETWEEN PAIRS IN BLOCK ................................... PH 1470 (498b) 1917 WASHINGTON 1¢ GREEN, HORIZONTAL PAIR, IMPERF BETWEEN ................ PH $500 $450 Very fine example, previously hinged. Scarce. Cat $700. 1471 (499a) 1917 WASHINGTON 2¢ ROSE, IMPERF HORIZONTALLY, STRIP OF 3 .................................. PH $1500 Very fine and pretty top margin vertical strip of 3 with mirror-like gum, imperforate horizontally. MINT never hinged, light internal crease in bottom pair. Scarce this nice with large, tall margin at top. Ex-Cook. Cat $3000. 1472 (499b) 1917 WASHINGTON 2¢ ROSE, BLOCK IMPERF VERTICALLY .............................................. PH $650 Block of 4, imperforate vertically, creating two horizontal error pairs. Extremely fine with bright, rich color. Original gum, previously hinged. (1999 PF Cert #0340381). Cat $1100. 1473 (499c) 1917 WASHINGTON 2¢ ROSE, VERTICAL PAIR, IMPERF BETWEEN ..................... PH $200 Scarce part perf. Original gum, previously hinged, thin speck, fine for this error. Cat $900. Stamps & Postal History 109 $750 Block of 4, imperforate vertically, figured as two pairs. Original gum, previously hinged, few pulled paper fibers on reverse, very fine appearance. Ex-Dr Spalding. Cat $1400. $200 Very unusual top margin block of 4 that has a ‘dry print,’ making much of the image difficult to view. Notation in selvage reads ‘RARE Dry plate 100 copies known,’ suggesting this was from a full pane of freaks. More unusual, however, is the fact the stamps appear to be adhered to tissue paper of some sort. Very unusual freak, perforations a bit weak at top. Valued as normal examples. Fine to very fine. Cat $700. (498b) 1917 WASHINGTON 1¢ GREEN, BLOCK, 2 IMPERF BETWEEN PAIRS .................................... PH $2000 Horizontal strip of 3, imperforate vertically. Scott values a pair at $700. Mint, hinge remnant causing tiny hinge thin at center, large thin on right stamp per Weiss cert. Error stamp with double perforations at left and right. Unused, no gum. Tiny tear at top, still an amazing error! Fine. Catalog value for regular stamp. Cat $950 for no gum. 1463 ( ) (73) 1863 JACKSON 2¢ BLACK, PRE-PRINTING FOLD .......................................................................... PH $500 Beautiful extremely fine block of 8, with center two pairs imperforate between vertically. Stamps all have generous margins and fresh appearance. Block previously hinged, bottom pair lightly. Incredible showpiece. Datz and Scott values for two single pairs. Error very rarely encountered this nice in large multiples. (2000 PF Cert #0362817, 1989 PF Cert #0204633). (Datz #15th edition $1150) Cat $1400. USA ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES 1462 ( ) (25 var) 1857 WASHINGTON 3¢ ROSE TYPE I, DOUBLE PERFORATIONS ....................................... PH (430) 1914 WASHINGTON 7¢ BLACK, BLOCK W/ HUGE PREPRINTING CREASE .......................... PH A DRAMATIC 3½mm diagonal pre-printing paper crease affecting THREE stamps on block of 4. Crease remained closed during printing, gumming and perforating, leaving ungummed void and slightly crazy perfs. Very pretty freak! Stamps alone catalog $360. 1931-38 FULL PANES & LARGE BLOCKS ACCUMULATION ........................................................ $300-400 Mint sheet file & folder filled with 39 full panes and several more broken panes from the 1930s.
