GARFIELD
ESTABLISHED 1898
garfieldnj.org
The City of Garfield earned the name “City
of Champions” in 1939 when its high school
football team won the national championship.
As an early supporter of industrialization,
manufacturing plants and textile companies,
Garfield has attracted a variety of cultures to
its gates for decades. Industry was so much
a part of the community that the high school
teams are known as the Boilermakers. The
community was named in honor of U.S.
President James Garfield. It has a population
of almost 31,000 residents.

GLEN ROCK
ESTABLISHED 1894

Glen Rock owes its name to “The Rock”
– a 570-ton boulder in the center of town
believed to have been deposited by a glacier.
Its quintessential residential profile features
a range of home styles, new and old, large
and small, on beautiful tree-canopied streets.
Parents and commuters are offered one of
the state’s finest school districts plus private
alternatives, and not one but two Hoboken/
New York-bound train stations. The
municipal pool provides a popular gathering
place in the summer, as does the 11-acre
Thielke Arboretum, with nature trails and a
spring-fed pond. A portion of Saddle River
County Park offers bike paths and tennis
courts.
