Realizing he owned only
one button-down shirt that he
felt looked good untucked,
entrepreneur Chris Riccobono
launched UNTUCKit in 2010.
“The best idea is the one that
solves your problem,” explains
the Columbia Business School
grad. His fast-growing brand
was built on nailing the perfect
men’s shirt length. (Hint: It falls
halfway between the belt and
the zipper, leaving the front
pockets partly visible.) Today,
UNTUCKit sells dozens of
shirts in a range of colors,
prints and plaids, each with the
brand’s signature navy or red
sail tag stitched at the hem.
Founded in Hoboken,
UNTUCKit began as an e-commerce site but now has stores
in SoHo and San Francisco,
with at least a dozen more
planned in major metropolitan
cities. Fans of the brand
include NHL star Brad
Richards, its first brand
ambassador, as well as actors
Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt
Damon and Kevin Connolly,
and TV hosts Billy Bush and
Mario Lopez. “In the more
casual world we live in, our
shirts are ideal for almost any
occasion,” explains Riccobono,
whose favorite look is an
UNTUCKit shirt under a sports
jacket. “That’s my day-to-day
wardrobe.”
Recently, Riccobono added
T-shirts, polo shirts, sweaters
and henleys, as well as nearly
a dozen women’s shirts to the
line, all adhering to his commitment to using the highest
quality fabrics and naming
each style after a wine or
wine-making region. A passionate oenophile, when he’s
not knee-deep in managing his
apparel empire, this former
Franklin Lakes resident is
traveling the world, producing
Pardon That Vine, a video blog
for like-minded wine lovers.
