Home Penthouse Panache Linda and Leonard Goldberg trade quiet suburban living for luxury in Fort Lee COMPILED BY AMELIA DUGGAN PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF PETER RYMWID INTERIOR DESIGNER: LAURIE HARROW, NEW YORK CITY CONTRACTOR: JONATHAN HATCHUAL, SOHO BUILDING AND REMODELING, FORT LEE KITCHEN DESIGNER: KOBI AHARON, MODIANI KITCHENS, ENGLEWOOD W ith their children grown and out of the house, Linda and Leonard Goldberg moved from Rockland County’s Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., to a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom, 2,500-square-foot penthouse in The Plaza, a high-rise building in Fort Lee. Their neighborhood was filling up fast with young families and they decided it was time for a change. Linda was a speech pathologist and Leonard was a general manager for Prudential Insurance Company. They hired New York City decorator Laurie Harrow, a family friend and their decorator from years earlier, to gut and decorate the space. She eliminated walls, created push-outs onto the balconies, turned a powder room into a laundry room, installed new stone flooring and helped incorporate the existing contemporary furniture from the Goldbergs’ previous renovated and decorated apartment. “The apartment design could not have been so successfully achieved without the foresight and perfection of our designer, Laurie Harrow,” says Linda. Designed in New York loft post-minimalist style, the apartment features all-new windows, Jerusalem stone tile floors, Waterworks bathroom tiles and furniture from B&B Italia, Design Within Reach, Knoll, Saarinen, Brueton, Desiron and Poltrona Frau. The only original furniture that remained was a coffee table, a dining room set and some kitchen chairs. 70 FALL 2015 (201) GOLD COAST
