EDITOR ’ S NOTE

It ’ s hard to believe thatthe time has already come to start selecting summer camps . We ’ ve barelygotten past the holiday season and we ’ re already making plans for next summer .

( 201 ) Family hasput together aguide to summer camps , including day and sleepaway , whichwillhelpinyour decision making . We ’ ve also included teen programs and summer abroad activitiestoexplore .
Despite the competition for children ’ s attention , reading – books that is – remains apopular pastime . Whether it ’ s the classics or science fiction and fantasy series , books of all sizes , shapes and content still capture the fancy of young readers . Some local communities run reading marathons to encourage childrentotry all kinds of books . Ridgewood has run a successful reading marathon in February for years under the directionofFriends of Ridgewood Library .
Sistersand mompreneurs Annyssa Cantor and Brianna Ricks have discovered anew way to send love to campers and collegestudents alike , the Me to You Box . More than just acare package , this personalized box of love features treats and “ survival ” toolsthat will let your kids know you care .
On aserious note , our Special Parent columnhas signs that parentsshould look out for that might signal mood disorders , anxiety or depression .
We have also cookedupsome Valentine treats and St . Patrick ’ s Day crafts for the two special holidayscoming down the pike .
Finally , Our Do-Gooder is 12-year-old Maxwell Sarkissian , a7th grader at Eisenhower Middle School in Wyckoff , who decided to make hissummer abit more interesting and meaningful by helping others .
