THIRD FLOOR GUESTROOM SERVES AS COLORFUL AND QUIET RETREAT
WRITTEN BY AMELIA DUGGAN
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ANNE-MARIE CARUSO
T
he owners of this Ridgewood home decided
to create a cozy and colorful space for guests
from the third-floor bedroom. The largest
bedroom in the house, the space gets plenty
of sunlight throughout the day and is the
perfect place for vivid color choices.
The nine patch yo-yo quilt contains more than 3,000
pieces of more than 100 different fabrics and was
hand-cut and hand-sewn by the homeowner over a
three-year period. Many of the fabrics were purchased
at JoAnn Fabrics and others were purchased online from
fatquartershop.com. Curtain and bed pillow fabrics are
also from fatquartershop.com.
Accessories including vases, wall art, decorative pillows
and other pieces, many from Pier 1 Imports, reflect the
homeowner’s love of color. The Ikea couch features
striped pillows from Pottery Barn and an embroidered
“America” pillow from Backyard Living in Ridgewood. ●
