French photojournalist , Henri Cartier-Bresson , considered to be the father of modern photojournalism . His style of " street photography " using small format cameras still influences photojournalists to this day . He would venture out with a compact Leica rangefinder camera with a 50mm lens . Cartier-Bresson believed that every image should be taken at a " decisive moment " - when aspects of the photograph should come together to form a moment that tells a story .
