Still photography with the GoPro Hero+

My GoPro was a gift from my family but as most of my previous photographic
experience has been with SLR or rangefinder film cameras and having no
particular interest in shooting videos, I struggled at first to know what to use it for.
It may seem strange to take still photographs with a camera designed primarily
for creating action video footage but the entry level GoPro Hero+ can be used as
a slightly quirky point and shoot digital camera producing 8 megapixel jpeg files.
It has a number of features which for many still photographers would be
challenging limitations but it is possible to exploit these, with some potential
advantages for those who are looking for something just a bit different from their
photography and are happy to experiment with the element of serendipity.
