What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

During the break, I decided that it wasn’t enough to do just one act of kindness to one person. I did many different small things such as visited a friend and gave out Christmas cards to the community.

Why did you choose this activity?

I chose to do many activities such as, shoveling the snow, visiting a friend, and giving out Christmas cards around the neighborhood because it was simply the right thing to do. During winter breaks and holiday seasons, it’s really hard for me to get up and actually do something productive. With overwhelming amounts of food and piles of Christmas presents under the tree, it’s tough for a kid like me, to think about others. But as I learn more and more I realized that it was time to give back. My family and friends have supported me throughout my whole life! It wasn’t fair to do just one act of kindness throughout the whole break. Just like in the movie, Trevor helped 3 people, so I did the same.

Who did you help? What did you do?

I helped my family prepare our food during Christmas Time and New Year’s, I visited a friend, shoveled our neighbor’s snow, and gave out Christmas cards throughout the community. I also looked after our neighbor’s house during the holidays.

(Did not take a picture of the house due to privacy purposes)

When did you do your act of kindness?

The first thing I did was I visited my friend, Carol. She was babysitting a dog which made the visit even more fun. Then on December 24, 2015 I gave out Christmas cards around the community by putting it in their mailboxes. The next day, I helped make our Christmas supper and prepared New Year’s dinner. Then I shoveled our neighbor’s driveway; I goofed off many times by throwing snowballs at our fence and by making tons of snow angels on the ground. And all throughout my break, I looked after our neighbor’s house while they were away for the holidays.

My “act of kindness” and “Pay It Forward” endeavours went very well. It was a success and it didn’t feel like it was just another homework assignment. This experience helped me rediscover myself and my ability to stretch. Many laughs and smiles have been shared as I did my acts of kindness. I remember the look on my friend’s face when she opened her door. It was priceless! :) My family and I had a fun bonding time as we prepared the holiday feasts as well. I felt very accomplished and most of all proud after doing these acts of kindness because all of my efforts paid off. Leaving my friend’s house knowing that she was impacted with love and kindness was what made this assignment special. Looking back at that clean driveway and that dinner table filled with goodies truly hit me home. Oh how I wish homework was this good! :) Even though my actions weren’t extravagant, I still feel very content of what I’ve done. I have asked people to do the same, to “Pay It Forward” and they gladly said “yes”. I can’t wait for more kindness done from all around the world! This has really been the best and life changing “ homework assignment” yet!
