Wellness dom after a beloved family dog, meets the criteria of EcoCert, the certification body for sustainable development, organic farming products, natural and organic cosmetics and textiles, and fair trade. Ingredients that are sourced on other farms around the world must also meet the same criteria. In Vermont, Tata controls the research, testing, formulating, processing, sales and marketing stream from beginning to end. The company follows organic and environmentally sustainable business practices, from buying renewable energy, which runs the Vermont manufacturing facility, to using recyclable packaging for all her products. There is no animal testing, and the farm even uses “cow power” (a nicer way of saying methane gas) as part of its energy sources. It’s all part of cultivating her business from the ground up. Tata brings her scientific background, entrepreneurial instinct and ethical philosophy to the table, ensuring that her company is truly green and not just paying lip service to the term. She is aware that “greenwashing” (the practice of deceptively marketing a product as green, or environmentally friendly, solely to increase profits) is rampant in the multi-billion-dollar skincare industry, and is prepared to stand on her own merits in this competitive business. Tata and husband Henry also run their family with the same dedication to holistic principles, raising H unter, age four, Grace Paloma, age three, and baby Tata Mia to live as organically and lovingly as they can. Tata is not just an advocate for better health, she’s also an example to her children that true healthy living is achievable and desirable. That’s especially important as she imparts her new concept of beauty to her girls. She no longer believes in superficial ideas about looking good. Having the perfect model’s features and body is not what it’s all about. In FEATURES Tata’s dictionary, beauty is defined by well-being, psychological and physical health, joy, energy, respect, confidence, glowing radiance and an amazing personality. And it comes from eating right, exercising, sleeping well, meditating, and creating rituals for yourself and your family that nourish the body and soul. “It’s a whole cocktail of characteristics that go beyond the physical,” notes Tata. “It has to do with being a more healthy, energetic and better version of yourself.” “It’s a whole cocktail of characteristics that go beyond the physical,” notes Tata. “It has to do with being a more healthy, energetic and better version of yourself.” Those characteristics also include passion. “I’m a very passionate woman and that’s one of the reasons I’m doing what I’m doing,” she says. “I’m very passionate about our mission and about helping everyone become healthier. As humans, we spend so much time working so we should be passionate about what we’re doing to achieve a sense of fulfillment.” And if passion is part of the beauty equation, Tata has that in abundance. • Award-Winning Rejuvenating Serum • KATHRYN KORCHOK KATHRYN KORCHOK IS A FREELANCE WRITER SPECIALIZING IN STORIES ABOUT HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, WELLNESS AND LIVING LIFE WITH PASSION.
