Lifestyle On your way back home, plan an overnight in Calgary and sign on for a class with Jari Love, the queen of the western fitness world. Jari’s classes combine weights, step routines and a whole lot of synchronized sweating to a pulsating fitness-clubby kind of music that will take your mind off your screaming muscles (almost). Jari’s a health and fitness rock star, so you’ll want to be able to brag about having taken – and survived – one of her demanding classes. u Finally, because you’ve been such a healthy little saint all this time, you now get to sin a little, so let’s JOURNEYS really make it fun. Check into the Hotel Arts, one of my fave Calgary spots, which features Euro-elegant furnishings, a swanky-but-chill bar and a convenient downtown location – you’ll love it. Plan to have breakfast and lunch there (the food’s great) but get down and dirty for dinner and head to the Palomino for a big ol’ pile of barbecue. Don’t even think about the calories. Have the platter – the one that has ribs and pulled pork and fries and beans and corn and – wait for it – apples cooked in Jack Daniels whiskey. Just do it. You’ll thank me for it later, I promise!
