WLM | outdoors “egg shoot.” Awards and prize money are impressive, totaling over $20,000. The WTRC is a non-profit competition, donating proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Hunt. Mac’s Gunworks owner Chuck MacIntosh is pleased at the response they have received from top marksmen throughout the country, such as this one from D.C. Smith of Idaho: “The course was a true rifleman’s course. No helicopter stages or any of that silly ‘stand on one leg & shoot left handed through this little window’ stuff. Just a challenging set of targets and minimal rules which let each team sort it out to the best of their ability. Chuck McIntosh, Frank Bliss, their wives, families & friends have put together the most enjoyable match I have ever competed in. The facilities are world class, the countryside gorgeous, and the target placement fiendishly clever. The prize table was outstanding. Our RO’s (Bill Reno, ‘Big Bill,’ Damon & Bear) were a joy to work with. If I could only travel to one match a year, it would be this one, hands down!” The WTRC always welcomes donations and sponsorships, and have a thorough description of the event and rules on Mac’s Gunworks’ website, www.macsgunworks.com. The Bliss Ranch of Weston, Wyoming – about 50 miles north of Gillette -consists of approximately five square miles of property that spans the Wyoming/Montana border. The ranch combines two families, a cattle operation (owned by the Williams family) and a “dinosaur dude ranch” (land and dinosaur bed & breakfast owned by the Bliss family). While the dinosaurs may have been the original inhabitants of the land, the cattle have called the property home for over 100 years. The Bliss Ranch is an ideal place to experience peace and quiet. “We have no drive by shootings, but we do have a few drive by shoutings,” the ranch’s website jokes. “Usually there is no noise and it is so quiet that you can hear your heart beat.” Those also interested in geology and paleontology can contact Frank Bliss for details on dinosaur digs – contact Frank at [email protected]. Wyoming is a perfect place for a competition such as the Wyoming Tactical Rifle Championship. The state is rich in the shooting sports, and the national attention this event is receiving is well deserved.
