This week in Annapolis Death with Dignity fails in Senate,
Able Act receives committee vote, compelling testimony
during DDA Budget Hearing, Disability Community testifies
on child custody bill, and Senate OK's tuition waiver to
community college.
ABLE Act
The Senate Budget and Taxation Committee voted March 3 to allow individuals with
disabilities to open an ABLE account (SB355).
Physician Assisted Suicide Bill Fails for the Second Time
Senator Young, the bill's sponsor, withdrew the physician-assisted suicide bill due to a lack
of committee votes. The Arc Maryland is relieved the Senate bill has been withdrawn. This
action effectively ends the chance of this issue passing in Maryland this session, although
