Guilt - By Izie Wood

As each icy raindrop clashed against my skin, droplets would scatter, sending shivers in every direction. But my focus for the late March rain was shattered by one sound. One sound that will haunt me forever: a gun shot. The single sound weakened my bones, and drained my skin of all color although I was not the victim, no a witness but the culprit. My mind began to sizzle, just ensuring my departure into insanity. The panic spread from my beating heart to my shaky knees as the faded sound of sirens grew closer and closer.

I could have rUn, but I wasn't prepared for another coffin to rest on my conscious. I was done assisting the grim reaper, as he hauls soul after soul to an eternity of darkness. I was finished with the useless conflict. I was ready to accept my punishment, and rid myself of the heavy guilt upon my back. Hot tears of joy ran down my face, the strong chains that bound me to the steep wall of betrayal had been broken.
