Channel 2 or "Natural Sound" records separately from our line audio. Natural sound is any sound from within our environment. Basically, it's anything we can't directly mic. In this example, you can clearly hear background noise. That's my laundry machine.

Channel 2.........
Channel 1 or "Line Sound" records cable or wireless microphone sound to your camera. This is a must-have for interview type recording. Line sound is ideal for capturing isolated sound bites from a person or object. This channel of audio records separately from channel 2.
Lav mics can attach onto a person or object without much physical or visual obstruction as they are small in size.
Shotgun mics are slender in shape and project outward to capture reverberating sounds from different directions. They can sit fixed onto a camera.

EXTRA: Sound terminology clips
Overmodulation or clipping can mean the death of a well-produced interview, concert recording or speakers during playback. It's when your audio signal goes way beyond the range of your recording device's capacity. This creates high frequency sounds and even "popping" noises. Adjust your recording distance and or volume settings to avoid clipping.
