IRIS.............................................

EXTRA: LIGHT terminology videos

The camera iris/exposure is measured by f-stops. The smaller focal length or 'f' number, the larger aperture or amount of light that enters the lens. Viceversa.

-These f-stops may appear on camera LCD screens as a setting display.

ND Filters.......

Neutral Density (ND) filters reduce light intensity as a protective filter. Some cameras are built with internal ND filters (1/4, 1/16, 1/64), while others require external ND filter attachments.

Shutter Speed..

Shutter Speed is the actual amount of time a single frame of video is exposed to light. This is calculated in fraction form. For example, a 1/48 shutter speed means that each frame is exposed for 1/48th of a second.

TIP: Set your shutter speed denominator as double its frame rate.

EX: 24 frame rate=1/48th shutter speed.

Gain is an voltage boost from the camera's battery to your image's pixal display. This will "light up" your image without actual lights . However, higher decibel gain (+6db, +12db, +18db) increases the amount of footage noise. Gain translates as a last resort technique to restore light to an image.
