Expect detours, delays
through January 2017

Area motorists will be
affected by upcoming ramp
closures on Interstate 40
and State Route 385.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation
recently announced that
contract crews will close
the Canada Road to I-40
east ramp in the evening of
Wednesday, October 12.
According to a TDOT
statement, the closure is in
order to safely construct the
new entrance ramp. The
ramp from Canada Road to
enter I-40 east (headed
toward Arlington and
Nashville) will be closed
for approximately three
months. A detour route will
be posted.
TDOT Community Relations Officer Nichole
Lawrence is optimistic that
the northbound exit from
SR 385 to Highway 70 will
open before the end of October. Lawrence confirmed
that the contractor anticipates that work on the
southbound exit ramp can
be completed without a
long closure. “At this time,
the ramp is scheduled to be
closed from November 115,” Lawrence said.
Lawrence added that
due to the addition of repairs not in the original bid
document, the overall estimated completion date for
the SR 385 bridge repair
project is January 15, 2017.

residents,
students, family and
friends
of
Kathy
Petrowski gathered to
show their love and
support for the 1st grade
teacher
at
Arlington
Elementary.
Just three weeks prior,
Petrowski was diagnosed
with Stage IV Lung
Cancer. Immediately, her
family and friends jumped
into action and started
working to get donations
for a silent auction, food
for BBQ plates to sell, and
raffle items for the
#KathyStrong
Fundraiser.
Numerous
local businesses donated
services, products and gift
certificates for a silent
auction.
With the help of
#KathyStrong wristbands,
t-shirts, BBQ plates, raffle

tickets, donations, and the
silent
auction,
the
community raised over
$24,000.
To show her love and
appreciation for all those
that came out for her,
Petrowski rode into the
event on the Pink Heals
Cancer Truck, waving at
everyone lined up on the
school sidewalk.
“So many in Arlington
love Kathy and pray she
kicks cancer!” said Jaime
Henson, one of the
#KathyStrong
event
organizers. “We just want
to thank everyone who
helped put the event
together and supported
Kathy and her family,
especially
Eric,
her
husband, and her sons
Ethan and Aiden.”
Kathy has undergone
treatment and reports that
she hasn’t experienced
any pain or side effects —
“All is good!” she said.
