Cristo Rey Wins First Volleyball Game
Soccer: Cody Barela (’16) during Saint Lawrence Academy’s first soccer victory of the
season against Fremont Christian High School.
Saint Lawrence Academy
Saint Lawrence Academy welcomed
new Director of Athletics, Dwayne
Taylor, in July of 2014. Hailing from
Boise State, Taylor’s bold vision promises a bright future for Saint Lawrence
Academy Athletics.
The varsity soccer team features
new coaches Aliou Diallo and Talal,
who have focused the co-ed team on
the fundamental aspects of the game
and that focus has truly paid off. Outstanding players have included underclassmen Steven Souza (’17), Luis Flores
(’18), Monica Hrncir (’17) and senior
Carlos Martinez (’15).
The Girls’ Varsity Tennis team, under Coach Elise Haines, won their first
match in four years with their victory
over Oakwood High School.
The Cross Country team, led by
coaches Ryan Olein and Tomilyn

Cristo Rey San Jose
Jesu it High Sc hool
(CRSJJHS) had an historic
evening on September 30.
Its girls volleyball
team won their first game
ever against Ace Charter
School. This win represents the first win by the
very first sports team
from the school.
Although this may
seem like a small feat as
CRSJJHS only opened their doors this year, there is much to celebrate. Most of
the girls on the team have never before played volleyball, and so far the team has
suffered only defeat.
Coach John Pinhiero, a Bellarmine grad, has worked diligently to teach the
girls basic skills, and more importantly, how to play as a cohesive team. The girls
took the win in just two games. The all star of the game was Maleena Guindo,
who had a run of 15 service points in the first game.
