Presented by the Friends of Boca Grande Community Center
201 4 Concert Series
7:30 PM at the Community Center Auditorium
Saturday, January 11: The Brentano Quartet
Since its inception in 1992, the Brentano String Quartet
has appeared throughout the world to popular and critical
acclaim. “Passionate, uninhibited and spellbinding,” raves
the London Independent; the New York Times extols its
“luxuriously warm sound [and] yearning lyricism; the Philadelphia Inquirer praises its “seemingly
infallible instincts for finding the center of gravity in every phrase and musical gesture;” and the
Times (London) opines, “the Brentanos are a magnificent string quartet…This was wonderful,
selfless music-making.”
Wednesday, March 12: Lynda Jamison
She’s Back! A Concert to Benefit Boca Grande LIVE!
Sponsored by:
Lynda Jamison has six albums to her credit, all of them under the
Chris & Jim Cowperthwait
musical direction of one of the top arrangers in the business, John
Oddo, who was musical director for Rosemary Clooney among many others. “I think she’s one of the
most wonderfully talented ladies I know. She has a great sense of humor that zings, then she turns
around and sings like an angel. She could make it as a comedienne or as a singer, but luckily, she’s going
to make it as both.” – Margaret Whiting
Monday, April 14: The Kruger Brothers
The Kruger Brothers personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of
the American musical tradition. Their original music, composed by Jens Kruger, is crafted around
their discerning taste, and the result is unpretentious, cultivated, and delightfully fresh. “The
Kruger Brothers are nothing short of magnificent, the classiest of acts as can be found on today’s
bluegrass and acoustic scene. Their music defies description. Especially when one considers it’s
made by a trio. The Krugers’ sound is both intense and tranquil, it’s classic, classy and classical,
and it’s jazzy and grassy — all at the same time and packed into one CD or one of the brothers’
mesmerizing concerts.”– Dan Tackett, Bluegrass Journal, April 1, 2008
Tickets to the concert series are $45each and can be purchased at the Community Center or online at
