section update Litigation Section By Steve Cummings King & Spalding LLP [email protected] T he Litigation Section has a number of exciting programs that will be held throughout this Bar year. On the second Friday of every month, the Section holds a breakfast and CLE program at 7:30 a.m. at the Ansley Golf Club. I would like to introduce this year’s Section Board of Directors: Chair, Stephen P. Cummings; Secretary, Christina Baugh; Treasurer, Edward Koneiczny; and Members-at-Large, M. Gino Brogdon Jr., Louis R. Cohan, Hon. Susan E. Edlein, John D. Hadden, Robert S. Huestis, and Simon R. Malko; and Emeritus Member, Terrence L. Croft. We look forward to serving the Section and invite you to reach out to any of us if you have events that you want the Section to consider or topics to propose for an upcoming breakfast and CLE program. As part of the Section’s judicial outreach efforts, we continue to offer free admission for all judges and judicial law clerks who wish to attend the Section’s events. And this year, we will be offering a Season Pass for all Section breakfast and CLE programs. By doing so, you avoid having to register each month, you get a free program and you will never have a problem if some of the programs sell out. This offer is valid through October 2015. The Litigation Section would like to thank its Section sponsors for their support. They are ATS (Applied Technical Services); Duplicating Products, Esquire Solutions; Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP; JAMS, and The Partners Group. We are currently accepting articles for the Section’s newsletter, The Litigator, and anyone that wishes to submit an article should contact John Hadden at [email protected]. On May 12, 2015, at the Section’s Bench and Bar reception, which was hosted by Nelson Mullins, Judge Herbert E. Phipps of the Georgia Court of Appeals graciously received the Logan E. Bleckley Distinguished Service Award. Upcoming Section events include speakers Anthony L. Cochran, Lisa L. Heller and Henry Chalmers who will speak on “Using Discovery Special Masters In Complex Business Cases: A Case Study” that will be held at the Section’s first breakfast meeting on September 11, 2015 at 7:30 a.m. at the Ansley Golf Club. A complete list of the Section’s upcoming programs can be found in the Upcoming Events list on the Section’s webpage at www.atlantabar.org. 52 THE ATLANTA LAWYER August/September 2015 Q
