section update ACYL Section By Joseph Hoffman Joseph Hoffman [email protected] 2015 ACYL ASSOCIATES’ CAMPAIGN FOR LEGAL SERVICES T he 2015 ACYL Associates’ Campaign for Legal Services will run throughout the entire month of October 2015. The Associates’ Campaign is an annual grass-roots campaign comprised of associates at Atlanta-area law firms that aims to raise both awareness of the critical need for pro bono legal services in our community and much-needed funds for those organizations. The ACYL will celebrate the Campaign with a “Kick-off Happy Hour” on Thursday, September 24, 2015 starting at 5:30 pm at TAP in Midtown. Representatives of the Campaign’s beneficiary organizations will be on hand to discuss their work and answer questions regarding how to contribute and get involved. through campaign coordinators at local law firms who provide information and seek contributions from their fellow associates. Last year, the Associates’ Campaign relied on dedicated associates who volunteered many hours and who served as their law firm’s firm coordinators. All Campaign donors and participating firms will receive recognition from The Atlanta Bar in its publications, including the Atlanta Lawyer. The beneficiaries of the 2015 Campaign include: • • • • • • • • • • • • Georgia Innocence Project; Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Inc.; Atlanta Legal Aid Society; Georgia Legal Services Program; Georgia Resource Center; Georgia Appleseed; Georgia Justice Project; Truancy Intervention Project Georgia; Southern Center for Human Rights; Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta; GreenLaw; and Investor Advocacy Clinic. Since its inception in 2000, the Associates’ Campaign has raised over $500,000 for Atlanta-area legal services organizations. Last year alone, the Associates’ Campaign raised over $26,000 from associates in law firms across Atlanta for legal services organizations.
