Course Spotlight The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe Named for its signature bridges, The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe surrounds its visitors with breathtaking views and a challenge. Reminiscent of Tuscany, but nestled in the coastal hills of San Diego, Calif., The Bridges features citrus orchards and vineyards. Alongside the scenery, the par-71 course is a Robert Trent Jones II Group design measuring just less than 7,000 yards. “The design philosophy was to create a visually stimulating and mentally challenging course that provided a variety of strategic options to make it enjoyable for players of all abilities,” said Bruce Charlton of the Robert Trent Jones II Group. “To achieve this, we incorporate a risk/ reward philosophy, providing bail-out zones for higher-handicap players, while enticing accomplished players to hit great shots.” All of these details contributed to the course being named to the 2005 Golf Digest’s Top Rated Golf Courses for California. The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe will host an AJGA event in 2013. The AJGA Insider // November 2012 15
