November 2014
This last month has been
packed full of high-profile public events that are always great
opportunities to showcase
wonderful aspects of our
school. Our school is a thriving
community of creative thinkers, risk takers, performers
and academics and this edition
of the Newsletter gives you a
wonderful flavour of the wide
range of opportunities that
have been available to our
students and parents in the last
month.
The recent H2 Drama IGCSE
Performance Evening highlighted the wealth of burgeoning
stage talent at our school, in
some hard hitting and moving
improvised pieces. Plays had
been cleverly scripted around a
shared stimulus and knockout
performances were made even
more powerful by the intimate
surroundings. My thanks to the
Drama team and their dedicated and highly skilled students
for making their stories come
alive in a memorable evening’s
entertainment.
We were very lucky in November to host a number of
esteemed guests at the BSHS:
Dan Grayson, Admissions Officer from Tufts; pedagogical
expert Lane Clark from Cana-
da; notable author and public
speaker Andy Fletcher; and IB
Theory of Knowledge writer
and consultant Tim Sprod from
Tasmania. All joined us this
month to share their respective areas of expertise among
the teacher, student and parent
bodies at ESC.
Lastly, the EPC and ESC campuses joined forces two weeks
ago for our inaugural Terry
Fox Run to raise awareness
and support for Taiwanese
cancer research projects. Darrell Fox joined us from Canada
for both runs, in which all our
children took part, from Year 1
all the way up to H4. In the
end we managed to raise a jawdropping 800,000 NTD! My
thanks to all parents who supported our students in their
fundraising endeavours.
