• After checking to make sure your pots are clean , insert a coffee filter inside each one . This keeps the soil from spilling out , but the water can still drain through . Once it is pressed down into place , it is ready for the potting soil . For small pots , cut each filter into four pieces , then use a small pie shaped piece of filter in each one . For larger pots , use the entire filter .
• For simple little inexpensive plant markers , use Popsicle sticks . Using a waterproof marker , write the name of the plant on the stick and insert into soil .
• Add color and interest to your small garden with the addition of architectural pieces or pottery animals .
• Make sure your garden greets friends and family . A charming chalkboard adds function and whimsy ! Write whatever strikes your fancy !
