I can’t understand how people can go through things like this without a support system. You can’t do life alone.” While Savannah struggled with understanding why other “friends” weren’t there for her, God eventually showed her what she was to learn from this experience. “I promised myself I would never be that kind of friend. I know the Lord used that horrible experience to teach me how to love others by showing me what it felt like to go without and how much this world truly needs love.” 戀攀昀漀爀攀 There was a period during her recovery when she became angry. “Before my stroke, I would read my Bible and write my thoughts about it in my journal. In the hospital, I didn’t want to hear what God had to say. But being angry and honest with the Lord 匀漀漀琀栀攀 made me realize that He would still cover me and protect me and love me through it  昀漀爀 猀攀渀猀椀琀椀瘀攀 猀欀椀渀 ☀ 昀愀挀椀愀氀 爀攀搀渀攀猀猀⸀ all. He allowed me to complain and cry and whine. He used my stroke to say, ‘Sav, if you can’t be transparent and honest with Me, who can you be that with?’ My stroke changed the way I communicate with the Lord completely. I felt completely undeserving and unworthy of God’s grace for me during this time. I’ve always known God was great, but I never realized just how good He really is.” Today, Savannah surrounds herself with inspirational people, including her friend Ally Harrington, fellow church members McKenzie Pierce and Cookie Cawthon, and 戀攀昀漀爀攀 NewSpring Senior Pastor Perry Noble. “All these are people who listen to Jesus and do what He says to do. I get the honor of hearing their wisdom and sitting under their 唀渀戀氀攀洀椀猀栀 昀漀爀 leadership. Each one has helped my walk with Jesus in special ways. I hope one day to be a game-changer like them.”  After graduating, Savannah plans to teach at the 愀挀渀攀 ☀ 瀀漀猀琀ⴀ愀挀渀攀 洀愀爀欀猀⸀ high school level. She also hopes to travel and be actively involved in missions. Until then, Savannah is grateful to be counted amongst many brothers and sisters in Christ at her church. “Every year, NewSpring does a summer trip to Daytona Beach called ‘The Gauntlet.’ This past year, we saw 1,062 salvations and 1,529 ba ptisms in one week in the same place I met Jesus two years before.” She will never shy away from spreading God’s word. “My passions are seeing 戀攀昀漀爀攀 people far from God grow closer to Him, teaching and learning, and making people feel loved and believed in. I will always remember where I was before I found the Lord, and I know the difference it makes when people fight for you and don’t give up. I am forever grateful for those people who fought for me, like my friend Ally.”  With each passing day, Savannah is growing in her walk with the Lord. “My life motto 刀攀瘀攀爀猀攀 昀漀爀 戀爀漀眀渀 猀瀀漀琀猀Ⰰ 搀甀氀氀渀攀猀猀 ☀ 猀甀渀 搀愀洀愀最攀⸀ is Luke 22:42, which states, ‘Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will but Yours be done.’ On my trip to Israel this past summer, I began to understand what this meant. When Jesus knew He was going to be crucified, He was praying that prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane (where I got to stand). I found myself saying that, too. ‘God, if you are willing, take this all away. But at the end of the day, it’s Your plan. Not mine. It’s not about me.’” Perhaps the biggest lesson of all Savannah’s learned is 戀攀昀漀爀攀 that, no matter what she faces in life, it will all work out in His own timing. “I used to have my life all planned out according to what I wanted. That’s the thing about trusting the Lord, though, you have to be okay with not knowing.” Savannah Poston resides in Florence, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Roxann Wrightson (from Florence) and Bert Poston (who resides in Bardstown, Kentucky). She has one sister, Lindsey Corbin. Savannah is a senior at West Florence High School.
