138 X3: After ten years at Tippmann, are you still having fun? Erich: Absolutely. You know, before I got to Tippmann, it was sixteen years of running a field; I had two stores and two fields in Ohio. I’ve loved paintball since I got into it when I was nineteen years old and twenty-six years later, I still love it. I still love to go out and play. Dallas Venegas - Richard Rivera, Dangerous Power (Amazone) X3: As one of the “newer kids on the block”, How much time and preparation has gone into getting the DP Tech Training Program off the ground? Dallas/Richard: Ever since we’ve had the new warehouse, as about four years ago we moved into the City of Industry, CA from a different warehouse located in Walnut. We’ve always wanted to do a Tech Training Course. We just didn’t know where, when and how. So after lots of research, we’ve actually tried to present this idea to the “Big Boss”, or upper management so we can actually do this kind of thing. There were a lot of details that needed to be cleared up. So the idea was there for quite the longest time. Our main goal was to hone the skills of our retailers and identify certain problems whenever they could just visualize it. Not so much pinpoint problems. But make sure everyone had the same background; on the same level. So once you hear a certain symptom, everyone is on the same page. Right now, it’s very disorganized, the way we have the dealers define the terms or how to assess the problems. But, everyone ends up with the same solution, which is a great thing for DP. We want to refine what we have now. Do you plan on expanding to the major tournaments with DP’s tech support presence and if so, what’s the plan? Dallas/Richard: Right now it’s going to be very similar the Dealer Tech Course for the 2014 Extravaganza. So what we have to do is try to develop these courses and make sure techs are on duty at these events because it’s very important that we show support. The image is also very important. It’s something that we want to do and really go hard with. If we’re going to do it, it’s going to lift off the ground with full force. We’re not going to cut corners. We’re not going to say “We’re short on manpower, we can’t do this or we can’t do that.” We want to actually make a strong presence because we have to show our force. There are plans for us to get into these main events Special PBX Edition
