Pro Paintball Taking

There ’ s always been a lot to love about professional paintball--the quality of play , the personalities , the events , the culture , the gear and the fan base . But all has not always been good . Many of the things we love about pro paintball are also the things we are sometimes disappointed in as well . Over the years we ’ ve see great venues and awful venues . We ’ ve seen great play and watered-down talent . We ’ ve seen the events and leagues grow , shrink and grow again . We ’ ve seen league splits , infighting , event cancellations , and promoters strong-arming teams .
But lately we are seeing pro paintball perhaps at its finest . This year we are witnessing Dynasty dominate again after a poor season in 2012 . Attendance is up big in the PSP . The NPPL , though clearly losing ground as well as pro teams to its competition , are forging a niche for themselves , even if not intentionally .
But for me the biggest change in professional paintball this year has come in its presentation , mostly because of the PSP and PaintballAccess . com . If you ’ ve not seen the PSP Webcast at PaintballAccess . com you are missing the best live coverage of professional paintball that ’ s ever been done . Each broadcast has gotten better and better--more cameras , more stats , more graphics and excellent play-by-play and color commentary . Matty Marshall , Chris LaSoya , Todd Martinez , Steve Rabackoff and others have done a great job in the booth explaining the game , the plays , the player ’ s backgrounds , and giving awesome behind the scenes insight on the players and teams . Hats off to the PSP and their sister company PaintballAccess . com .
Another thing that came across my desk that impressed me was an injury report that Houston Heat sent out about one of their players , Chad George . For a moment I forgot I was
reading about a paintba player--it was reminiscen the type of information a presentation you ’ d get f an NFL team .
Finally , with websites lik PbNation , ProPaintball . com , Social Paintball , Paintball . com and the 4 plus pages of magazine coverage PaintballX3 gi to each of the pro event it ’ s impossible to miss an thing . There are so man photographers on the fie now with so many resou es available to them , tha coverage of the pro eve is quicker and better tha ever .
Hats off to all that have made and continue to make pro paintball wha is today !
