Five Minutes With Brandon Luongo
NY Infectious
Brandon, please tell
us about NY Infectious.
We formed our
team in 2009 and
started out just
doing local 3-man
tournaments. The
more tournaments
we played the more
it made us want to
take it to the next
level. So we decided to join the New
England Paintball League (NEPL)in 2012.
That was also 3-man. We did very well in the
league we took 1st place overall for the season. In 2013 we decided to once again take it
to the next level. We did New England’s Xball
League (NEXL) which is a 5- man format race
to 4. We knew going into this it would be our
hardest task yet. So we did our homework
and practiced religiously. We came out strong
throughout the whole season we were in the
top 3, 3 out of 5 events. We made 3rd place for
the whole season.
We have also occasionally play in small local
tournaments here and there such as Cousins
Paintball, Capital Combat Zone, and Coopers
Cave.
What are your plans for 2014?
This season 2014 we are raising the stakes
again. We are going to be repeating the same
league as last year, D4 NEXL 5-man. Our goal
this year is just to dominate the competition.
We took 3rd in 2013 overall and this season
our goal is 1st. We will also be doing PSP,
world cup, and possibly do other PSP events.
We always try to make it a point to do a charity event throughout the season as well.
How long have you been playing paintball?
I have been playing since 2004, so 10 years.
Which even or series is your favorite to play
in?
My personal favorite event was our first NEXL
appearance. That was our first 5 man. We prepared so much in the off season for that event
and we walked in there as a no name team and
were able to make a statement with
a second place finish.
Can you tell us one thing you’d like
to change in tournament paintball?
Yes, no sideline coaching.
What new technology would you
like to see introduced to paintball?
I would like to see disposable pods.
Thanks Brandon!
