was quite a learning experience understanding what it takes to start a paintball company
a knowledge I thought I wouldn’t use again.
In 2009 I left Azodin to further enhance my
education. In 2011 after graduating I was
offered back a position with Azodin as their
graphic designer. In February 2013 Azodin
decided to close its U.S. office leaving many
employees without a job. This timing couldn’t
be even more perfect. Like the saying goes,
“where one door closes another door opens.”
David and I crossed paths with a business
entrepreneur that was willing to invest into
an extreme sports brand. What better sport
to start than paintball? This is where the fetal
phase of D3FY originated.
Will you be using distributors or selling direct?
D3FY will be selling its products to wholesalers however we will offer parts and services
to our customers.
What can you tell us about the DS3 that
hasn’t been published anywhere yet?
The D3S was designed to be our entry-level
mid-range gun. This wasn’t intended to be a
tournament gun but due to its popularity with
teams and critics we have decided to updated the SQ Micro board to the current tournament modes and a tournament lock. Although
our first gun run doesn’t include the updated
board we will offer the updated version at no
additional cost to our customers. In addition
we will offer a free re-flash on our boards as
tournament leagues change their firing mode
settings.
How has D3FY been received in the paintball
community so far?
D3FY first released a teaser ad in October
2013 to promote the D3S marker. It was well
received with intense curiosity and it circuThanks Sergio!
lated around the world. After revealing the
complete look and features of the D3S marker
into a variety of media outlets, we have received mix feelings but overall it’s been widely accepted.
