When paintball came out of the woods and began its transition into a more spectator-friendly sport, it became a sport of looking good. Uniforms made up of camouflage clothing were quickly replaced with repurposed motocross and racing wear, then paintball-specific clothing designed to attract the eye rather than fool it. Now, with the advent of social networking and high-tech electronics, the sport of looking good has taken a step further and is now also a sport about showing people how good a player looks and showing the world all the great shots and great moves they made at the field. High-tech, durable video cameras like those marketed by Greg Hastings and Replay and the extremely popular GoPro line have made it possible for every paintball player to be the star of their own movie, and now Simon Stevens has made it even easier to mount a GoPro camera to a paintball marker with products from his new company, Inception Designs. come extremely popular thanks to their size, ability to capture intense action in HD video and do so with models to suit practically any budget. Various mounts and options enable athletes, drivers, shooters and practically anyone doing practically anything to mount their GoPro camera somewhere on their hardware or on their person to capture the action from the angle they desire. However, as great as GoPro cameras obviously are and as versatile as the mounts for the camera are, no perfect solution to mounting a GoPro camera and using it for paintball has existed. Players mounted their GoPro camera “coal miner” style on their goggles or hung it precariously from their marker, swinging the door open for other cameras with patented mounts to break into paintball successfully.
