editorial ow offer. The small, local, and regional games can be a lot of fun, but the national level games are amazing. I think I know if you give one of these games a try, you’ll agree with me. 5. We Still Need to Be Better Four years ago I wrote an editorial series called “What Have We Done To Our Game” and in that series I looked at how for the previous five years or so the industry pushed the tournament side of the game of paintball relentlessly. This resulted in smaller fields, faster guns, and a different game of paintball than originally played. Four years later the rate of fire has been adjusted down, recreational paintball field sizes have increased, more woodsball is being played and we are seeing a bit of an uptick in the game. But it’s not enough. We still need to do more to keep the 12-year olds that show up at the field for the first time. We need to minimize the number of times the first timer gets shot at close range. We need to keep them on the field longer and shooting more paint. We need to give them a reason to buy a new gun. And we need to treat them like it’s the last new customer we’re ever going to see.
