MU | S p o r t s Profile Brian Kautz ’15 Hamilton sets women’s basketball record While pulling off a thrilling 65-62 victory over the Bluffton Beavers to advance to the semifinals of the HCAC tournament, junior guard Jocelyn Hamilton broke the singleseason record for assists, posting her 145th dish of the year. Improving the team to 14-12, the victory marked Hamilton’s 26th straight game with multiple assists. J Health and PE major earns national recognition unior soccer player Brian Kautz, a health and physical education major, has been named one of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance’s (AAHPERD) Majors of the Year. The 2013 Indiana AAHPERD Outstanding Student of the Year and 2014 Midwest District AAHPERD Outstanding Student, Kautz also received a Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship. “It’s not surprising to me at all because of his great work ethic and high expectations of himself,” said Dave Good, men’s soccer coach. Kautz boasts a 3.7 GPA and has been recognized as a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic team. He is treasurer of the Student Education Association, teaches physical education to local home-schooled children, coaches athletes with disabilities in the Wabash County Special Olympics program, and tutors children in the Partners In Learning program. He is active in the Council for Future Professionals for the Indiana AAHPERD and Midwest District AAHPERD. “It is a great honor to be recognized as a Presidential Scholar,” Kautz said. “I am thrilled to be selected by such a prominent association of professionals that has the same passion and desire as me – to impact today’s youth with developing a healthy and active lifestyle.” By Ben Ogden ’12 Bronze Ball stays at Carl W. Burt Field The always-heated rivalry between Manchester and Anderson did not disappoint as the Spartans defeated the Ravens 42-13 to keep the Bronze Ball for the fourth time in the last five years. After a Ravens defender broke through to block a Manchester field goal attempt, senior offensive lineman Eric Courter snatched the ball from the air and rumbled into the end zone.
