Henney ’69 of Kansas City, Mo., has been appointed home secretary by the council of the Institute of Medicine. IOM is an independent, nonprofit organization that works outside of government to provide unbiased and authoritative advice to decisionmakers and the public. Established in 1970, the IOM is the health arm of the National Academy of Sciences. 1970s Stan Deetz ’70 of Boulder, Colo., was featured in the Jan. 23, 2014, issue of Coloradan Magazine, a publication of the University of Colorado Boulder. Stan works to help organizations achieve healthier collaboration. He is a professor at University of Colorado Boulder Graduate School, director of the Center for the Study of Conflict, Collaboration and Creative Governance, and the Peace and Conflict Studies Program, and a President’s Teaching Scholar. Terrell Herbig ’70 of Youngsville, N.C., works as a substance abuse counselor for Family Preservation Services. Terrell and his wife, Kathleen, have been married more than 38 years. Jean Butterbaugh ’77 Payne of Wichita Falls, Texas, retired from Interfaith Ministries, Inc. after 32 years as executive director. Interfaith Ministries is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to low-income families in their area. Kevin Boyer ’79 of Bourbon, Ind., has been promoted to chief executive officer of the Elkhart Clinic, a multi-specialty medicalgroup practice in Elkhart, Ind. Kevin chairs the board of ADEC (formerly the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart County) and serves on the board of trustees for the Triton School Corp. and the board of the Marshall County Community Foundation.
