Financial Victory Can
Be Yours

f you asked me whether God can help in a
financial crisis, my response would be a resounding
“Yes, He can!” The Christian life is not all beauty
and glamour; I’ve experienced some financial
challenges throughout the years like many others
would attest to. However, as I look back, I can
certainly say that God has been my help through
it all.
I recall leaving a well paid job after being on
maternity leave for close to a year. It was hard
adjusting to one income at the time while having
the additional responsibility of raising a child.
Those were my early days of trying to find
alternative sources of income. But none came to
fruition. When I thought that I would be going back
out to work full time due to downsizing, I opted
for a position that was 50% less pay that what I
previously earned. This didn’t make our finances
challenges any easier but faced with this challenge
I decided I needed to pray and fast for a financial
breakthrough. For 30 days I gave up my breakfast
and each day on the way to work, at lunch before
breaking my fast and on the way home, I asked
God to double my income. In other words, restore
the income I previously had. Within 9 months of
working in a new position, God came through. A
former employer offered me a position that paid
exactly what I had asked God for. To this day it still
amazes me. But yes, God can help in any financial
crisis.
Another challenge occurred in the midst of a family
crisis. With the loss of income due to sickness and
recently moving into a new house, we were once
again faced with the challenge of maintaining a
household on one salary. These two challenges
were a major test of faith and proved to be a time
when I needed to trust God more than ever. This
