comfort of my living room rather
than dancing around in the car
park with the wind blowing up my
poncho; that way as soon as you
get there you’re ready for action.
While you’re squeezing into your
wetty, put the kettle on and
make a flask for when your kite
session’s done, a hot drink after
will really warm you through. Just
as it’s good to drink warm drinks
after, it’s important to hydrate
before your session. As a thought,
if you’re in doubt sitting in traffic
on the way to the beach, eat a
cereal bar and drink some water
to give yourself a little hydration. I
also pull a pair of joggers on and a
hoodie over my wetsuit while I’m
pumping up and laying my lines,
you don’t want to get cold
at this stage.
So you’re pumped up, lines on,
and ready to ride. This is where
it’s time to put on your boots,
hood, and harness, lock your
car and stow your key. Put your
wetsuit gloves on after you’ve
done all of the fiddly stuff. Now
before you run off, take the time
to get warmed up, some gentle
arm swings, squats and twists
from the waist will suffice or
maybe a quick jog to the end of
the carpark and back! Get those
muscles firing, you don’t want to
pull anything or get a cramp after
a couple of runs.

So now you’re all set, get out
