sign, we walked through grand
double-doors and entered the
vestibule of this historic 1850s
building. The restaurant is comprised of three levels, all are visible from
the lobby. Staircases wrap along and up the
original brick walls and the all-glass ceiling
above showcases a view of the sky. Each
dining room’s ceiling features beautifully
detailed tin. The bar and first floor dining
room are located to the right of the lobby.
The bar front is repurposed tin ceiling panels and these are mirrored along the top
of the back bar, as well. They are painted

a view of Main St.
A short walk up the stairs, the second floor
opens up to a large dining room with tables
set for parties of all sizes. The original brick
walls are adorned with black and white
photographs of local farmers, ranchers, and
the hard working people who bring local
flavors to the kitchen at One Eleven Main.
The third floor is available for private dining and is very popular for holiday parties,
rehearsal dinners, reunions, showers, corporate gatherings, and special events. The
loft type feeling of the space lends itself
nicely to wedding receptions and can accommodate parties of up to 60 people. Two
to three nights a week, depending on the
season, theatre performances by Jim Post
can be seen on the third floor. Jim Post currently presents Mark Twain and the Laughing
River at One Eleven Main. This presentation
is part history, humor, storytelling, and
musical theater. Each family friendly show
is about 90 minutes long and show time is
at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and

Just a short drive from many tri-state
communities, Galena, IL offers many
things to do. There are quaint shops
to peruse, hiking and biking on miles
of trails, canoeing and kayaking
on the Galena River, and amazing
restaurants that feature everything
from pizza and pasta to fine dining
pleasures. I had the delight of visiting
one of Galena’s unique restaurants
on a cool fall evening. As the sun set
on the horizon, I set out for Galena’s
cobblestone streets to dine at One
Eleven Main.
