the world with wine and food pairings.
The third annual Dubuque Food & Wine
Festival promises to tantalize taste buds
and expand your knowledge of wines.
Founders Jeff Jansen, Lea Droessler, and
crew are expanding the weekend events
to include the popular bowl against bowl
Great Soup Off, plus gourmet break-out
sessions hosted by local celebrities who
have a knack for flavorful dishes. John
Moran’s article will clue you in on some
of the dishes served and over 70 wines
you can sample.
Our monthly columns also have a festive
edge. You may find that perfect new holiday dish, wine, or restaurant.
Looking ahead, Christmas is on the horizon.
Some of our readers are packing to travel
south for the winter. Please call or send
your winter address. We will send the
Julien’s Journal to you so you can keep
your hometown in the forefront while
away. This is also a great time to give a
gift subscription to a family member or
friend. Just call, visit us online, or send in
the form on page 64. You can catch back
issues as well as the highly requested
and updated calendar of events online at
www.JuliensJournal.com.
In closing, thank you for continuing to
read and support our magazine. We look
forward to improving each month and
serving you for many years to come.
I especially thank our advertisers. We
urge our readers to shop local and let
your holiday dollars support those businesses and organizations whose advertisements appear on our pages.
It is all of you who, together with our contributors, have helped us to pursue our
mission of promoting this community, its
institutions, and its people since 1976.
I invite you to relax and take time to read
this November issue. Hopefully it will
bring both enjoyment and commitment
for a better community.
Happy Thanksgiving!
