New Physician
Medical Associates are pleased to announce the arrival of Kalyan Vunnamadala,
M.D., to the department of Cardiovascular
& Thoracic Surgery. He earned his medical
degree at St. George’s University School
of Medicine, Grenada, WI and performed
his residency at the Texas Heart Institute/
Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
Dr. Vunnamadala provides surgical treatment of diseases related to the heart, coronary arteries, chest, lungs, and esophagus.
New techniques he plans to bring to the tristate area include: patient blood management/bloodless heart surgery, minimally
invasive surgery including video-assisted
thoracoscopic surgery, endobronchial
ultrasound, and minimal access valves. He
has special interests
in transcatheter aortic valve implantation
and thoracic endovascular aortic repair.

Finley Welcomes New Staff

and going strong!

UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital announced that John Downing has been
promoted to the position of Patient Access
Manager. Downing has been with Finley
Hospital for the past ten years working in
the patient access department as a Patient
Access Associate. Prior to joining Finley, he
worked in the food service industry. Downing received his bachelor’s degree in speech
pathology from Elmhurst College in Illinois.
He earned his master’s degree in college
student development from Eastern Kentucky University. He is currently pursuing
a doctorate of philosophy in postsecondary
and adult education.
Downing has been involved with Iowa
Admitting Healthcare Access and Certified Healthcare Admitting organizations.
At Finley, Downing has been active on
the Patient Satisfaction Committee, VNA Holiday
Dinner Committee, and Wellness
Committee.
