Hult MBA graduate Wendy Tan tells the New York City
Alumni Chapter and Hult Alumni Magazine about how
she sees her industry developing over the coming years
and the benefits of Hult’s global network.
What were you up to before joining Hult and what have you been
up to since you graduated?
Prior to Hult I was living in Singapore and had been working for
Citibank Singapore Limited for ten years in a variety of roles within
Consumer Banking. The time I spent at Citi gave me varied opportunities to move around the company and enhance my consumer bank
product management knowledge, ranging from sales and marketing
to product and partner management.
I took a career break to pursue an MBA at Hult, with the goal
of enriching my knowledge, studying in the U.S. (so outside of my
comfort zone), and learning about international business. Not only
have I accomplished all those things, I’ve also made life-time friends
whom I am deeply grateful and indebted to.
After graduating, I was hired by Citicorp Credit Services in Long
Island City in the U.S., New York. I also met my life-partner, Geri,
at Hult and we are now the proud parents of a gorgeous baby boy,
Adrien.
How has the MBA helped you to progress in your career?
The MBA helped me to land an international position at Citi. Having
a global perspective from an international business school has
definitely helped me to progress in my career, offering me global
strategic insights and an understanding of various international
markets. This is highly valued by my organization, my counterparts
in regions across the world, and also my business partners.
Tell us more about your current role and responsibilities at Citi.
I am a Relationship Director for the Global Networks & Business
Development team at Citicorp Credit Services and am responsible
for managing the global network of relationships that Citi has with
payment networks such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express,
Diners Club, etc. In my role, I manage these partnerships, leveraging
Citi's global presence and scale, as well as the capabilities and
investment support of the various network relationships in order
