CREDENTIALING UNDER NEW
MANAGEMENT
One of the most recognizable services offered
by the Greater Louisville Medical Society is credentialing though the Centralized Application
Processing Service (CAPS). The program offers a
top quality source for verifying physician credentialing information at a fraction of the cost otherwise required for client hospitals, out-patient
surgery centers and other entities.
Although credentialing has been a hallmark of
GLMS for 24 years and counting, there are areas where service can be improved. GLMS is
striving to make credentialing
a more interactive and personalized application process for
members and clients who interact with the program.
“We wanted to make the credentialing process a more member friendly service, and make
sure those coming through

education on the front end of the application
process to teach doctors the benefits of joining
GLMS. Now we’re getting that information out
there.” The first of many GLMS member benefits is
extensive discounts for their credentialing needs.
“When a physician in need of credentialing contacts us through the web, over the phone or in person, they fill out an application as well as forms
for any supporting documents
they may need. Then we work to
verify the information required
from their peers and former employers,” said Williams.
Another helpful tool in the CAPS
arsenal is a collaboration with
our PEPS Department to guide
physicians through the process
of provider enrollment.
“We decided to pursue provider
enrollment to close the loop between hospital credentialing
and insurance credentialing.
