GGEW NEWS SUMMER
he 2nd Corringham
Scout and Guide
Group celebrated the
Jubilee in a very grand style
at their AGM in June.
The headquarters was
turned into a giant street
party with Union flags and
Last Night of the Proms
style music giving the parents and VIP guests a night
to remember. Oh, and that
picture of Chris Skinner was
taken during the event!
T
here are changes to
future issues of the
GGEW News.
This is the last issue to
be published quarterly and
posted out to everyone as
a matter of course.
In future we shall
publish termly, three times
a year, and be
electronically distributed
via the ebulletin and, as
now, available on the
county website
T
girlguidingessexwest.org.uk
s most of us will
know the County
has undergone
some changes recently
with four sub committees set up each with its
own chairman.
This does mean that
not so many members
need to attend the
quarterly County
Executive meetings,
only a representative of
each of the sub
committees, Division
Commissioners and the
core team leading the
County.
Nominations are
welcome for some of
the committees so
please talk to your
Division Commissioner
for details if you think
you have a contribution
to make in the way the
County runs.

here is a wealth of expertise in the County for
you to call on to make life in your units easier
and even more exciting. From walking, boating, holidays and outdoor activities, DofE, to
arts and crafts, our County Advisers are there
to help. Contact details are in the
current County Directory
which is available via the website
girlguidingessexwest.org.uk
or the ladies at the office will be happy to point you in the
right direction if you have any problems.
T
You will be able to read
the newsletter on-screen,
and print off a hard copy
using your own printer at
home, which will mean if
you need extra copies you
will be able to produce
them yourself with ease.
There will still be some
copies which will continue
to be produced by the
ladies at the County Office,
for the main contact for
each level, Ambassadors,
Vice-Presidents and
Region.
There are several
reasons for the change,
not least cost.
Everyone is having to
look at ways of cutting
costs and guiding is not
exempt from this reality.
Sending the newsletter
electronically is not only
more efficient but will save
the County almost £1100 a
year in postage alone.
Continuing to pay this
amount of money out
would eventually affect the
level the County might
have to consider adding to
future Subscription figures.
So, we look forward to a
new way of reading about
all the great things
happening in Essex West.
THE GIRLGUIDING ESSEX WEST NEWSLETTER is published termly for Leaders, Advisers, Members

QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER FOR GIRLGUIDING ESSEX WEST
SUMMER 2012
President on a wire
C
ounty President Avril Brampton got a
big cheer as she raced over the
heads of Trefoil members on a
zip-wire at the Chigwell Campsite.
Avril braved the poor weather during the
Trefoil Guild’s Jubilee celebrations in May
when she climbed the tower and whizzed
down the wire at breathtaking speed.
