The theme this year was Capital Cities. We had a mixture of London, Paris, New York and Honolulu. It was a brilliant day and the sun shone. Hundreds turned out to watch and the group came 2nd in the Youth walking category. It was also a time of change for Girlguiding Essex West. As we let off the fireworks for our Centenary finale, we said a huge thank you to Linda Taylor for all her hard work as her term as County Commissioner came to an end. We then welcomed Jan Knight as she took over that role. It’s hard to believe that was five years ago. On 20th October 2015 (2010 2010 2015) Jan completed her term of office as County Commissioner and at County Members’ Day we said thank you to Jan and her team - Ann Matthews (Assistant County Commissioner) and Avril Brampton (County President). I finished as Assistant County Commissioner along with Ann; however, many of you were kind enough to nominate me as your new County Commissioner. So here I am. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the next few months and I promise that I will visit every Division in the not too distant future.
