The Editors bit!
The Centenary is now over and now we move on to the
next Century continuing the fun that is Girlguiding.
During this past year there has been pressure on the
limited space available in the newsletter but I hope you all
feel that the coverage has been worthwhile and interesting.
It has meant that quite a lot of items have been left out
and I appologise for the disapointment if your item or picture
has not made it onto the page.
With all the Centenary events now over there will be
more space available in 2011 so please continue to send
your news in together with pictures if available.
Please let me know of events coming up in your
Units/Districts/Divisions and where possible I will try to get
along and take pictures for you and the newsletter, my email
address is on the front of the newsletter.
Thanks for your understanding

The best of Christmas Cheer to everyone in Essex West
from everyone at GGEW News
(That’s just me really, David)
e hope you all received the first
of what should have been
regular e-bulletins in
November.
The intention was that these
bulletins would be sent out a couple
of times each month to keep everyone
up to date with forms etc.
Sadly, Easydrum, the company operating the system has
gone into liquidation and until another system is in place we
will not be able to send any further bulletins by this means,
but we hope it won’t be too long before we can restart.
In the meantime, it is important that everyone keeps their
personal details up to date on ‘GO!’, as this is where your
email address is collected from.
So, make it a New Year resolution to login to GO! and
keep all your details up to date regularly.

WINTER 2010
A Brilliant end to a
Brilliant Year
lmost 2000 girls
and Leaders from
across the County
gathered at the Orsett
Showground to share
the 20.10 moment at our
County Vision event.
On arrival everyone
received a goodie bag
which included a glostick
and the special
Centenary Promise
Badge.
After renewing their
Promise the crowd was
treated to an unexpected
fireworks display, paid
for by an anonymous
donor.
The fireworks were a
brilliant end to what has
been the most brilliant
year of Celebration in
the County.
From Disneyland to
the Rainbows Princess
Party, the Brownies
Circus Day, Guides and
Senior Section It’s a
Knockout, Blake Hall
Garden Party and BBQ
to the Family Fun Day,
every member has had
the opportunity to take
part in something just for
them, and our special
Weather Team worked
their magic for every
event from the sprinkling
of snow at Disney to the
clear blue skies and
sunshine for all the
others.
OK, it was cold at the
Finale, but it didn’t rain!
A
Just one of
the brilliant
fireworks
which
ended our
Finale
Our event was originally going to be at Chigwell but as the
numbers grew from just a few hundred to the almost 2000
who wanted to come, it became clear that the Chigwell site
would not have been able to cope with the volume of traffic in
such a short time. The switch to Orsett ensured that all who
wanted to come were able to. There were some sound
problems during the event and some people at the back of
the crowd were unable to hear everything that was going on.
The organisers are very sorry this spoiled the event for some
people, but by the time they realised there was a problem it
was too late to rectify the situation.
