WINTER 2008
We l c o m e t w o n e w Vi c e - P r e s i d e n ts
ounty President Avril Brampton
appointed two new Essex West
Vice-Presidents at this years
County Day in September.
Olive Wenborn and Marjory Law both
received their appointment badges on
stage in front of hundreds of Guiders from
accross the County.
The appointment of Vice-presidents is a
great honour, entirely within the gift of the
President, and are only made to Guiders
who have made a significant contribution
Olive with Avril
to Guiding over many years.
Olive has been in Essex for many years
and has worked tirelessly in a variety of
roles throughout her time as a Guider.
Marjory has also been invollved for
many years, recently standing down as
Chairman of the Essex Trefoil Guild.
Avril said, ‘I am delighted these ladies
accepted my invitation to become vicepresidents and I look forward to having
them as part of the Presidents team for a
long while to come’.
Marjory with Avril
Guiding does not end there of course,
because the duties and responsibitilies of
a vice-president are to maintain Guiding in Essex West and to continue to
support Guiding in their own
area by badge testing, taking

part in events and being active
in the Trefoil Guild etc, so
there is still plenty for VPs to
do!!
C
he County project for Change
the World is ‘Save The
Children’. People at the
County meeting voted by putting a
coin on the project of choice and
Save The Children had one more
coin than any others and £19.50 was
raised through the voting.
There will be more details about the
County Project later but, of course,
Units are free to choose a project of
their choice too
