GGEW NEWS BROWNIE CENTENARY SPECIAL
We had our own mascot for the
year, an owl with an eyepatch
named Fudge.
Eight years old Samantha
Baker was presented with her
very own FUDGE after she
won a Countywide competition
to name our Big Brownie
Birthday mascot.
Chris Skinner, Assistant
County Commissioner, along
with Task and Finish Group
Leaders Linda Harris and
Margaret Henderson, paid a
surprise visit to the Brownie meeting in Hornchurch to hand
over her prize. Samantha was delighted with her special Fudge
which has a specially printed sash with her name on it.
Fudge has made her mark by visiting all sorts of places and
taking part in all sorts of activities during the Centenary year

THE regular GIRLGUIDING ESSEX WEST NEWSLETTER
2014 was a very
special year for
Brownies all over the
world and in Essex
West the girls were
given a special way to
celebrate.
More than 750 girls
and Leaders, along
with Senior Section
members and the
Trefoil Guild came
together at Helena
Romanes School,
Great Dunmow for a
day to remember.
There were five
‘islands’ from
Christmas, Adventure,
Peter Pan, Brownies
100 and Pirate
Islands.
At the end of a funfilled day they all
came together for a
fantastic finale led by
Just Kids Parties.
One of the
highlights was a
Captain Jack Sparrow
character who visited
each island during the
day spreading his own
special brand of fun
where ever he went.
Inside this special
edition are pictures
and stories from
events around the

is published three times a year
